{"id":223,"date":"2016-01-04T14:54:38","date_gmt":"2016-01-04T14:54:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/musikwirtschaftsforschung.de\/?p=223"},"modified":"2016-01-04T14:54:38","modified_gmt":"2016-01-04T14:54:38","slug":"call-for-papers-vienna-music-business-research-days-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musikwirtschaftsforschung.de\/?p=223","title":{"rendered":"Call for Papers: Vienna Music Business Research Days 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 7<strong><sup>th<\/sup> Vienna Music Business Research Days<\/strong> will be held at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Austria, from <strong>September 27 to 29, 2016.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Music Business Research<\/strong> is an inter-discipline at the intersection of economic, artistic, cultural, social, legal, technological and further developments which contribute to the creation\/production, dissemination\/ distribution and reception\/consumption of music. This interdisciplinary nature calls for methodological multiplicity and <strong>is open to scholars from all scientific areas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The conference organizers invite scholars (from the postdoctoral level on) who have a research focus on music business\/industry related topics to submit a paper proposal for the <strong>conference day on September 28, 2016<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Indicative themes on all music business research areas, include, but not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Self-management and career development (institutional and private) of music artists<\/li>\n<li>Past, current and future developments in the music industry (recorded music industry, live music sector, music publishing, music retailing and wholesaling, music instruments industry etc.);<\/li>\n<li>Music market research and music charts research;<\/li>\n<li>The economic and social situation of musicians as well as the labor market for musicians;<\/li>\n<li>The management of musicians and music institutions;<\/li>\n<li>The marketing of music;<\/li>\n<li>Music branding and sponsoring;<\/li>\n<li>Public and private funding of the music sector (including new forms of music funding such as crowdfunding);<\/li>\n<li>Case studies on music companies and other music institutions;<\/li>\n<li>Legal aspects of the music business (contracts, copyright, competition law\/policy etc.);<\/li>\n<li>Music licensing and collecting societies;<\/li>\n<li>Music media (radio, TV, online-based media etc.);<\/li>\n<li>Economic aspects of music genres (classical, pop\/rock, jazz, world music markets etc.);<\/li>\n<li>Business-related music education;<\/li>\n<li>Music export;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Gender issues are welcome and can be included in almost every research topic mentioned above.<\/p>\n<h2>Submission<\/h2>\n<p>Please send an abstract of your proposal to <a href=\"mailto:vmbrdays@gmail.com\">vmbrdays@gmail.com<\/a> no later than <strong>April 30, 2016.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All submissions must include a Title, Authors (names, affiliations, e-mails of all authors and a notation (*) of the corresponding author), an abstract of 1,000-1,500 words and 3-5 keywords. Abstracts must be submitted in English, as a MS Word file (*.doc or *.docx) or *.pdf file, and include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Objectives of the research<\/li>\n<li>Brief description of the disciplinary\/theoretical context\/background<\/li>\n<li>Research questions and\/or hypotheses<\/li>\n<li>Methodology<\/li>\n<li>Main or expected conclusions \/ contribution<\/li>\n<li>Main references<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Abstracts will be subject to a double-blind peer-review process by an international jury, and authors will be notified of acceptance by June 01, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Final papers should not exceed 7,000 words (including abstracts, figures, tables, references and appendices) and follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/musicbusinessresearch.wordpress.com\/international-journal-of-music-business-research-ijmbr\/notes-for-contributors\/\">author guidelines<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/musicbusinessresearch.wordpress.com\/international-journal-of-music-business-research-ijmbr\/\">International Journal of Music Business Research (IJMBR)<\/a>.
